Class Booking FAQs
What is Pilates?
Pilates is a holistic movement method created to promote alignment of the mind and body. Grounded in technique, controlled movement sequences, and regulated breath, Pilates encourages ergonomic postural alignment, core strength, and balanced musculature. Since its creation, Pilates has continued to gain respect from health professionals as a reputable method for injury prevention, rehabilitation, and sustainable exercise. The benefits of practicing Pilates regularly include improved core strength and stability, postural alignment, flexibility, balance, and endurance.
What is Reformer Pilates?
The Pilates Reformer is the most popular and versatile piece of Pilates equipment around the world. Invented by Joseph Pilates, the Reformer is designed to utilize spring-resistance technology to intelligently strengthen and improve muscular function. Exercises on the Reformer incorporate functional movement and involve pulling, pressing, or holding a moving carriage steady while you resist tension from anchored springs. With the unique ability to adjust spring tensions for each exercise and ability level, it’s possible to progress and tailor exercises to every body for every exercise - whether it be to provide more support to the absolute beginner, or more challenge to the most experienced Pilates lovers.

I have a package or membership. Can I transfer some of my credits to someone else
Credits from any type of package or membership are not transferrable.
I am trying to book a class while outside the EST time zone. Do I need to do anything differently?
When booking in the ERP app or through the ERP website, class times will be listed in your local time zone, not Eastern Standard Time. It is very easy to trouble shoot to make sure you are booking the correct class time!
In the app, go to the filter page on the bottom right corner of the schedule. Here you will be able to chose ‘New York (GMT-4)’, ie EST. The schedule page will then automatically adjust to the correct time.
On the website, use the toggle at the top of the schedule to adjust all class times to ‘New York (GMT-4)’, ie EST.
How do I set up ACH direct debit on my account to avoid the credit card fee?
Simply follow these steps:
Login to your Momence account.
Go to 'My account.'
Remove your existing card(s) on file by clicking the red trash bin icon in the top right corner.
Click 'Save ACH Direct Debit' then click 'Update.'
Follow the steps as directed by Stripe.
You can disconnect your bank account at any point.
Please note:
ACH direct debit is currently not available in the Momence app. Therefore, we recommend making your class, package and membership purchases on your desktop through our website before booking your classes in the app if that's your preferred booking method.
If you are on an auto-renewing membership, Momence will automatically prioritize ACH direct debit as your default payment method, even if you still have a card on file.
I’m new to your studio and so excited to take class! Do you have any welcome offers for new clients?
We do! We’re happy to offer 3-for-2 Reformer and Mat classes for new clients to get your feet wet. The packages can be purchased on our website here.
I’m new to Pilates altogether! Which class should I start out with?
It’s up to you! Our Mat: All Levels classes are a great and versatile option for beginners. Our Reformer: All Levels classes are truly for all levels. You will be offered options and modifications throughout class.
I just booked my first Mat class! Are mats provided or do I need to bring my own?
Mats are provided in-studio :)
Is it okay for me to take an All Levels Reformer class if I’m new to Pilates?
Absolutely! Please speak with your teacher before class so that they are informed and can guide you through setting up your reformer.
When am I ready for Advanced classes?
In an effort to give you confidence with choosing a safe and appropriate class level, we've put together a few helpful tips to navigate deciding between an All Levels class (beginners through to advanced) and an Advanced class. Here are a few questions to consider asking yourself:
Am I familiar with most of the movement exercises in an All Levels class?
Am I confident performing most of the movement exercises in an All Levels class?
Do I feel experienced and confident in operating a Pilates reformer?
Do I feel confident adjusting my foot bar to my own setting without needing assistance?
Do I feel like I have a deep understanding of Pilates' fundamental principles?
Do I have a well developed body awareness?
Am I someone who typically opts for the progressions and advanced choreography offered in All Levels classes?
Do I find myself asking my teacher for progressions or more challenging spring settings on a regular basis?
Am I currently working through an injury? ***If you answer yes to this question, we strongly recommend you join an All Levels class or a Private session.
If you're still not sure, we encourage you to ask your teacher the next time you're joining us for an All Levels or Core, Glutes & Arms class.
How does the waitlist process work?
If your favorite class is full, you may add yourself to the waitlist (current capacity is 7 people).
Note: You will need an active class credit available in your account to be added from the waitlist to class. For non-auto renewing members, this may mean purchasing a credit to be placed on the waitlist. The credit will be returned to your account should you not be booked in to class.
When a spot becomes available, you will be automatically added from the waitlist into class in order from #1 to #7.
When you're successfully added into class, you'll receive a notification via text/email, depending on your communication settings. Keep an eye out for these and be sure to have your notifications turned on!
Hot tip: If you're booked on a waitlist and no longer can make it, cancel your waitlist booking so that you don't run the risk of being automatically added into class.
There is the possibility of being added to class up to 1 hour before the class starts and if you're on the waitlist, we will assume you're ready to join us for class.
